A LOCAL netball club and a specialist school program have successfully received grants to help further their activities.

The Woolworths Fresh Food Kids Community Grants Program assists grass-roots initiatives.

North Kalgoorlie Netball Club received $1,480 to purchase equipment for the netballers. The Eastern Goldfields Education Support Centre received $2,000 to use in their lunch program teaching students with intellectual disabilities and some with physical disabilities how to shop and make healthy lunches.

The program is designed to send a practical message about fresh food to children and their parents and to encourage good nutrition, exercise and a healthy lifestyle. Around $2 million dollars in grants has been given away nation-wide.

This year, Fresh Food Kids Community Grants received 12,500 applications, of which 1185 were successful.
