IT IS a case of a genuine trifecta for Emma Rendell and her partner Peter Coggon who recently bought into the TAB outlet next door to the Albion Shamrock hotel in Burt Street.
In doing so, the move marks three generations of family ownership of a TAB outlet with Miss Rendell's parents Isabella Rendell and Mick Sullivan having owned and run the TAB next to the Star and Garter Hotel for the last 13 years. Miss Rendell has worked for her parents in the past just as they worked for their parents who were the first in the family to own a TAB.
It is now a family tradition with Miss Rendell and Mr Coggon buying into the family business just a week ago. Both aged in their twenties, the couple are also apparently now the youngest to own and operate a TAB outlet.
“My parents say that owning and operating a second TAB will be a challenge,” Miss Rendell said.
“But it provides plenty of excitement within the industry and I find it socially rewarding.
“We are all excited about it and are looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
As well as the regular horse and dog punters, today's sports betting at TAB outlets includes the AFL Grand Final as well as the Brownlow Medal, Netball and international sports.
Both TAB outlets open for seven day trading between the hours of 9:30am and 8:30pm and until 9:45pm on Fridays.
