SHEDDING her hair in the name of charity has more than paid off for Kalgoorlie-Boulder's Simone De Been.
Mrs De Been has been announced as the 12th highest fundraiser in this year's World's Greatest Shave; with an outstanding total of $19,073.70 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
The Top 30 Awards celebrations were held in Perth last week to acknowledge the top efforts.
Mrs De Been said she attributes her successful fundraising efforts to the support of friends, family and what felt like the entire Kalgoorlie community.
An employee of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Mrs De Been shaved her hair at a special function at work, surrounded by her husband, children and colleagues.
West Australians supported the World’s Greatest Shave stronger than ever this year, helping to raise a record $1.4 million for the Leukaemia Foundation.
The top 30 fund raisers for the state, including individuals, companies and community groups contributed over $600,000 to blood cancer research and free services to leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma patients and their families.
Simone De Been and her husband Simon made a special trip to Perth to be part of the Top 30 Awards celebrations.
