No they shouldn't be covering up because it is one of the major industries in town and it has always been done without any hassles in the past.

I believe this topic to be extremely petty, I have been a resident in this city for over two years now and I thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere that the "skimpy" barmaids bring to local establishments.

It gets everyone to socialise, and brings with it many points of interest.

These ladies come from all walks of life around Australia and the world, it is their choice, they enjoy what they do and the smiles they bring to the patrons they serve.

It seems so strange that people from outside these places have so much to say about them.

It is not something that is displayed in public, it is behind closed doors, and people that do not wish to associate with "skimpies" do not have to walk through these doors.

There are plenty of other establishments in Kalgoorlie/Boulder and the Goldfields that have regular barmaids.

I do not believe that it is fair to these girls either, they are just doing there jobs.

It is ok for us to have three working brothels, yet we can not allow girls in lingerie serve the men and women of our communities beverages..?

There is a petition that has been put together supporting "skimpy" barmaids.

I feel the people apposing should witness these petitions to get an idea of the kind of support these "skimpies" have.

Then focus on more important matters and leave us alone.

Yes skimpies should cover up. The guys will still get their drinks served to them by pretty women. Do they really need a perve that badly? Think of your wives at home. How should they feel about you perving on half naked 20+ yr olds?

Kalgoorlie is no longer wild west frontierland of Blokes, Booze and Brothels. It is now a family town and needs to shed it's previous image.

Hello. I am from Switzerland im find this is a good thing with the skimpys in Australia . A little bit action in the pubs is very very good.

Using half naked women as a means of luring men to pubs shows how low the pub owners are willing to sink in order to make an extra dollar.

The skimpies themselves are obviously people whose upbringing did not enlighten them of the sacredness of one's body.

The desire for money has now taken people to a place where they are willing to expose themselves for the amusement of total strangers.

Skimpies are just the starting point.Before long it will be topless barmaids.

Then after wards it will be nude barmaids.

Then ultimately it will be "GET A SEX FIX AT YOUR FAVOURITE WATERING HOLE"

All pubs that promote skimpies are no different from brothels which add no moral fibre to the positive growth of any community.

A somewhat blinkered view by many, not to mention ill-informed.

For "keeping it real"'s information, it has already been nude barmaids, then topless bar maids, now down to lingerie barmaids, not the other way around.

Despite certain levels of prudity shown by some people, the skimpies are a tourist attraction, not to mention an attraction for the miners.

Having said that, with fly-in fly-out (FIFO) mines with their own wet mess, here to stay, how else are the hotels supposed to draw the miners from the mining camps? Get rid of FIFO and we wont need skimpies :)

In the mean time, them having to put tiny little stickers over their nipples so as not to offend anyone is a joke.

Any beach or any TV show reveals far more than they do in the pubs.

I am sick and tired of seeing shows on tv about Kalgoorlie, and all they show is the brothels and the skimpies.

There is a lot more to this town than drunken yobbo's ogling young women.

The image portrayed to the rest of the world is just wrong.

I worked with a guy who's parents wanted him to move out of town because Kalgoorlie was no place to raise kids.

All they knew of the town is what the media portrayed.

Is this the image we want to put out.

Plz ppl get a grip!!!... The way I see it, if you don't like looking at skimpies, don't go to that particular pub, plain & simple. There are plenty of pubs that offer a skimp free service. Time for change comments about "how would wives feel?" - you're hilarious! They're not committing adultery are they?... 'keeping it real & true' comments, it has been proven many times over that sex sells, advertisers use it everywhere & in every media possible. Do we ban all exposure or just the ones that effect you. You say its a family town, I say to you who the hell takes the family to the pub where there are skimpies. Throw stones somewhere else. Macca... you really disappoint me with a ridiculous comment like that. What tv shows are you talking about in particular? Most would show the history which include brothels... Do you go to the brothels? I am sick of people putting there 2 cents in when quite clearly they never visit establishments such as these for they are the only ones complaining.
